24 апреля 2017 г (понедельник) в 15.00 в аудитории 3107 перед студентами выступят два международных эксперта:

  1. Давит Мрелашвили - врач-невролог, доцент кафедры неврологии Медицинского факультета Университета Южной Каролины.
  2. Александр Шестов - старший научный сотрудник лаборатории молекулярной визуализации и метаболомики Медицинской школы Перельмана Пенсильванского университета.

В рамках своего выступления Давит Мрелашвили прочитает две лекции:

  1. "Demystifying Multiple Sclerosis".

DM: “I will be discussing the pathophysiology, diagnosis and treatment of Multiple Sclerosis. We will go especially in depth for the etiology and the suspected mechanisms of the disease. Both traditional and more recent diagnostic criteria will be discussed, along with typical findings of diagnostic tests such as Brain MRI and Visually Evoked potentials. Lastly, selected treatment agents will be presented in the context of their mechanism of action, and explain what impact they have on the disease”.

  1. "Organic Causes of Psychosis".

DM: “Will be talking about Organic Illnesses of the brain that result in psychiatric manifestations that can be extremely hard to differentiate, unless doing a thorough neurological assessment. Will discuss wide variety of medical, metabolic, toxic, infectious, etc. conditions as categories of differential diagnosis when working up such patients. I will also present a rare case of autoimmune encephalitis that I saw in 2013, a potentially devastating condition that fortunately was identified and treated correctly, resulting in near total recovery”.

Выступление Александра Шестова тоже будет состоять из двух частей:

  1. "Аdvances in cancer biomedicine"
  1. "Applications of metabolomic studies for elucidating of the pathological mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases and aging"

ASh: “My area of expertise and research interests are in the field of clinical and general biochemistry especially in quantitative cancer metabolism, brain metabolism, biomarkers, mechanisms of metabolic regulation, therapeutic strategies to treat cancer, neurodegenerative diseases and aging and computational biology”.
