Department of Economics
The Department of Economics was founded in 1967 as a training center to form highly-qualified economists-mathematicians and sociologists in the in the eastern part of the country.
There are five subdivisions functioning at the department: division of economics, sociology, business administration, economics and law, economics and management. Training at the subdivisions is performed in close interaction with research institutes of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, enterprises, banks, and various companies. During their study, students are required to do their research internships in institutes of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Scineces. This allows leading scientists to work with students individually. Many graduates of the department have become a part of Russian scientific elite honorably representing the national science abroad. The department graduates also succeed in business and banking industry. As a rule, they become managers, CEOs of large and medium-sized companies as they are well-oriented not only in economic but also psychological and sociological aspects of business.
