Measurement of the φ→π+π- branching ratio

The branching ratio of the φ→π+π- decay mode Bφππ = (1.9-0.8 +1.0) × 10-4 was measured by the interference in the reaction e+e- → π+π-. The interference phase ψ = -42° ± 13°. The value of χ2 for Bφππ = 0 is 17.8 units larger than that for the optimal Bφππ, e.g.Bφππ = 0 lies outside of the four standard deviation confidence interval. © 1981.
