Experimental investigation of high-energy photon splitting in atomic fields

Photon splitting in atomic fields was experimentally studied. The total statistics collected was 1.6x109 incoming photons with a BGO (bismuth germanate) target and 4x108 without a target for background measurements. Overall, the results confirm the existence of photon splitting phenomenon.
