Development of vacuum and gaseous photodetectors in BINP

The results of testing of several photomultiplier tubes with microchannel plates (MCP PMT) and phototriodes developed in the Budker Institute of Nuclear Physics in 1997-2002 are presented. The study includes single anode MCP PMTs and several types of multianode tubes. The results on counting rate capabilities, dependence of the tube gain on external magnetic field and cross-talks between individual channels are presented. The design of a sealed gas photomultiplier is described. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
