Kinematically complete measurement of the pd → pdη Reaction

The pd → pdη reaction has been measured in a kinematically complete experiment at 927, 961, 1032, and 1096 MeV. The CM angular distributions are quite flat and distributions of the pd and pη invariant mass are close to that of phase space. However, the dη invariant mass shows significant structure in the first few MeV above threshold. This behaviour is similar to that observed in the energy variation of the pn → dη total cross section and is a signal of strong η-deuteron scattering which has been predicted in many theoretical models.
