Observation of double cc̄ production in e+e- annihilation at √s ≈ 10.6 GeV

An attempt was made to search for J/ψc̄c production, where the additional c̄c pair fragments into their charmonium or charmed handrons. It was observed that both a charmonium state and charged mesons accompany prompt J/ψ production in e+e- annihilation. The results favor e+e-→J/ψc̄c as the leading mechanism for prompt J/ψ production at √s≈10.6 GeV.
