An interpretation of Heidegger's concept of anxiety in terms of desire allows us to demonstrate the functional parallelism between authenticity in his early works and being in late ones. One can see that Heidegger assigns desire to being and it is in the orientation to this desire that the human desire is formed. The role of confidence in the constitution of anxiety is also examined.
