The role of increased levels of lutheinizing hormone (LH) and 17-hydroxyprogesterone (17-OHP) has been investigated in pathogenesis of the syndrome of arterial hypertension in women of the reproductive age. The hormonal profile of more than 70 women with the increased level of 17-OHP or LH was thoroughly investigated. The ovarial function was secure in all cases. In all women the decreased levels of progesterone in comparison with healthy age-matched persons were found. The high level of 17-OHP has become a leading factor in pathogenesis of the syndrome of arterial hypertension and dyslipidemia with increased LDLP. Hypersecretion of LH hasbeen found a primary path in pathogenesis of the syndrome of arterial hypertension without abnormalities of carbohydrate metabolism and insuline-resistant status. The importance of «progesterone defence» was confirmed as a part of a mechanism stopping the development of arterial hypertension. The inclusion of LH and 17-OHP is recommended in diagnostical program for young women suffering from arterial hypertension.
